Looking for preschool party games?

If you have a holding a party for your preschooler with a theme that works great with music, such as Blue’s Clues, Barney and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, then you can consider the following classic activities for your little guests.

I am a passionate party organizer who recommends special party supplies and party games. I hope the following will help you kick start your party planning.

(A) Musical Chair

This is probably the most popular children party game that involves music. But I will just elaborate the rules a little bit just in case you need something for reference.

First, set up the chairs in two rows, back to back. The number of chairs ought to be the total number of participants minus one. When everything is arranged, ask the kids to walk (not run!) around the chair once the music begins. When the music stops, everybody needs to find a seat. The one who fails to do so will be out for this round. Then, take away 1 chair and repeat the steps above, till you find two kids left with 1 chair. Of course, the one who sits on the chair wins!

(B) Freeze!

The great thing about Freeze is that anybody from toddlers to grannies can play this game and laugh their hearts out!

For this game, all you need is a CD and a stereo.

First, ask the children to get ready (and get excited!). Then, turn on the music and ask the kids to dance around – the sillier the better! Once the new music is turned off, all kids need to freeze. Anybody who moves will be out, till only one individual left who will then becomes the winner.

Tips: do ask the adults to join in because kids would love to see the moms and dads act silly!

(C) Pass The Parcel

For this game, you’ll need to prepare a stereo and a music CD, as well as a little present pre-wrapped with layers of newspaper.

First, wrap up the present with a number of layers of paper – it could be any paper as long as it is large enough for wrapping. I always use newspaper myself.
When it is time for the game, ask the kids to sit down in a circle. Turn on the music and begin passing the present. Once the new music stops, the youngster holding the present will remove one wrapping newspaper. Repeat the passing and the unwrapping till a youngster unwrap the final piece of newspaper and the present is revealed. This lucky little one can keep the present!

For more fun, you can insert a small gift in each layer of wraps. For me, I usually include pencil, eraser, bookmark… little gifts like this are enough to excite the children.
